SRINAGAR: A container vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near the Sangaldan area of Ramban district on Saturday, leaving the driver and his helper with minor injuries, officials said.
According to officials, the container vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-5867 skidded off the road before falling into the gorge.
Soon after the incident, teams of the Home Guards/Civil Defence (HG/CD), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Police and the Civil Quick Response Team (QRT) rushed to the spot and launched a joint rescue operation.
The driver, Tanvir Ahmed, and the helper, Sadam Hussain, were rescued from the gorge and were found to have sustained only minor injuries. Both are stated to be safe, officials said.
