The Indian System of Medicine (ISM) doctors association Tuesday accused state health minister, Lal Singh of indulging in “high handedness” besides “spoiling” the affairs of the Government Unani Hospitals and other ISM hospitals by “pushing valley-based doctors to Jammu fringes against the Service Rules”.

A delegation of the association said that the doctors who have served in far flung areas for 8-10 years have been once again pushed to far off places against the service rules.

“After serving in Padder Kishtwar for 8 years,” said an ISM doctor, “I was once again transferred there two years back.” The doctor said the health minister again ordered his transfer to a remote district of Poonch recently.

“It is a clear violation of Service Rules, and our basic human rights,” he said.

The ISM doctors from Kashmir are transferred to remote districts in Jammu division while the hospitals of ISM in Kashmir are left without staff, said another doctor. “The health minister for the reasons known to him is hell bent on ruining the ISM healthcare in the Valley and is forcing ISM doctors to take up jobs in remote villages in Jammu division.”

DG ISM Dr Kabir Dar and Health Minister Lal Singh despite repeated calls didn’t answer the phone.
