SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank suspended a female employee for an ”inappropriate” reaction to a social media post about Coonoor helicopter crash.
Reportedly the employee has used a laughing emoji on a news post which was related to the death of Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, who died in a chopper crash along with his wife and 12 other defense persons.
Accordingly, some users took the screenshot of the post, on which she had reacted and asked J&K Bank to take action against the employee. The user accused the employee of “celebrating the helicopter crash of CDS Bipin Rawat.”
As per the order issued by J&K Bank, the “contents are purely defamatory and not in consonance with conduct rules governing the services of an employee and tantamount to misconduct.”
The order of J&K Bank reads that from time to time the Bank has issued repeated circulars against misuse of social media platforms by employees against the interests/rules of the Bank.
The female employee who is presently posted at Central Processing Centre CASA is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect.
This is the second incident of this month when employees have been cornered on their respective social media posts. Earlier a show-cause notice was issued against the employee of the Forest Department for criticizing the Power Development Department for poor electricity through Facebook.
