SRINAGAR: A police personnel member deployed for Amarnath Yatra 2025 duty was injured on Friday in an accidental fire incident at Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official said that the incident occurred when a service rifle of a cop misfired at Mini Line Pahalgam, leading to injury.
“The injured cop has been identified as Constable (SgCt) Shabir Ahmad. He was part of the Quick Response Team (QRT) deployed at Mini Line for Yatra security when his rifle went off accidentally,” the official said.
Shabir Ahmad sustained bullet injuries in his left foot and was immediately shifted to PHC Pahalgam for treatment.
His condition is stated to be stable, and further medical assistance is being provided, he said, adding that the investigation has started. (JKNS)
