A policemen was injured on Monday when his service rifle went off in Awantipora Township of the South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Officials told Global News Service that the officials of civil administration and police were conducting market checking in main town Awantipora at 3:00 PM today when a cop identified as Abhay Kaul (Belt No 622) pulled triggered of his service rifle by mistake.

“A single bullet hit him in the leg. He was instantly rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment,” the official said.

Meanhwile, a labourer was killed after he fell from an under construction house at Rajbagh here on Monday.

A police official said that the labourer Shabir Ahmad Dar (25) son of Sonaullah Dar of Kupwara was critically injured when he fell from the 2nd floor of the building in the locality, one the most affected area due to last year’s floods.

He was shifted to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, they added.
