SRINAGAR: A policeman who was critically injured on Tuesday in a “brief shootout” with militants near Zoonimar area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district has succumbed to his wounds.
Quoting a top police officer, news agency GNS reported that constable Aamir Hussian received grievous bullet injuries in the upper parts of the body including neck. “Even though doctors tried their best and revived him for several minutes, he passed away,” the officer said. A senior doctor at the hospital too confirmed the cop’s death to GNS.
The police officer said that a militant was also injured in the shootout and “probably has escaped from the spot”. The whole area was cordoned off to nab the fleeing militant(s).
The shootout took place at 2:30 today in the area.
