Srinagar: Acting on a specific input about the presence of militants in the village, the joint team of army’s 1st RR and SOG of JK police have laid a cordon in Locktipora area of Bijbehara in Islamabad District, Tuesday afternoon.

“The village has been cordoned off,” police sources said.

Forces have started search operation in the area and there is information that militants are hiding in village, a police official told Kashmir Life.

Another report from Mohammadpora village in Kulgam peripery, another cordon was reported. Top local police sources said that while the counter-insurgency officials were enforcing the cordon, there were clashes between people and the cops. While police said the cordon was in place, residents said it has been lifted. It was not immediately known why the area was cordoned off.
