SRINAGAR: Taking stringent action against those violating the prevailing ‘Corona Curfew’ – for strict implementation of COVID SOPs, police in Budgam arrested at least ten persons, including four shopkeepers, besides seizing several vehicles here in Khan Sahab and Chadoora.

An official told that the district police registered two FIR vide numbers 66/2021, 67/2021 at Police station Khansahab and one vide number 57/2021 at Police station Chadoora under relevant sections of law.

The official maintained that four shopkeepers were arrested for defying Corona Curfew in Khan Sahab. The arrested shopkeepers have been identified as: Mohammad Iqbal Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat residents of Shamasabad and Farooq Ahmad Kumar, Abdul Razak Hajam residents of Parnewa.

The police also arrested six other violators in Chadoora area identified as: Showkat Ahmad Wani resident of Solina, Khurshid Ahmad Sofi resident of Sheerigund, Mudasir Ahmad Khanday resident of Hanjipora, Javiad Ahmad Dar resident of Mukaam, Basharat Ahmad Yattoo resident of Chadoora and Mohd Altaf Rusray resident of Dada Ompura.

Twelve vehicles with registration numbers’: JK-04 0975 (Tipper), JK-01Q 6064 (Tipper), Chasis Number 5310 (Tractor), JK-04E 9137 (Tata Mobile), Chasis Number (Not Mentioned) Tractor,  JK-04D 8524 (Not Mentioned), JK-13 4227 (Tipper), JK-04C 9601(Not Mentioned), JK-01B 9101 (Not Mentioned), DL9CE 0809 (Not Mentioned), Chasis Number Vehicle (Not Mentioned) and JK-03 7026 (Tipper) were also seized for flouting the prevailing restrictions.

Meanwhile Budgam Police has reiterated its request asking the people to adhere to guidelines/orders to help in containing the spread of Covid-19. (GNS)
