Jammu and Kashmir Police in north Kashmir’s Handwara area have arrested 14 persons and seized two persons for defying the prohibitory orders issued by the government to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

A police spokesman in a statement said that in the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara 06 persons were arrested and 01 vehicle was seized for violating the orders issued U/s 144 CrPC.

“While in the jurisdiction of Police Station Qalamabad, 07 persons have been booked for violating the orders issued U/s 144 CrPC,” said the spokesman.

“Similarly in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vilgam, 01 person has been arrested and 01 vehicle was also seized for violating the prohibitory orders imposed by District Magistrate,” he said.

The spokesman said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in the respective Police Stations and investigations have been taken up.

“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by District Magistrates in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restrictions will be dealt strictly,” said the spokesman.
