SRINAGAR: As many as 15 samples that were diagnosed for Covid-19 at the SKIMS laboratory have turned positive, informed sources said. With three from GMC laboratory, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases on Wednesday is 18.

“Of the 15 new cases, eight are from Ganderbal and two from Kupawar and the remaining are from Baramulla and Bandipore districts,” a senior official said. “We are in the process of getting the details of the individuals.”

SKIMS and GMC laboratories have been given clear areas to work as far as testing is concerned. GMC laboratory is tackling the capital city and the south Kashmir entirely. The SKIMSD laboratory is mandated to manage Ganderbal, Budgam and the north Kashmir.

Meanwhile, four patients were discharged from the SKIMS. These included an Eidgah boy, aged around 10. They went home after they tested negative many times while being admitted in the hospital.

Meanwhile, a report from Leh said another patient was tested positive in Ladakh. Health Secretary of the UT said they have five active cases, of whom four are from Leh district. The fresh case has come from the village in Leh periphery that was the first spot in erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state where Covid-19 appeared. The village is in quarantine for a long time now.
