SRINAGAR: Two more patients were tested positive taking the daily tally of Covid-19 positive cases to 19. The overall number of infected cases in Kashmir is now at 94.

“We had results of three samples from our laboratory today,” Dr M Salim Khan, the spokesman of the GMC managed Associated Hospitals said. “All the three samples had come from District Hospital Pulwama.”

Dr Khan said of the three tested positive today, one is from Pulwama district and two from Shopian district. “I do not have many details about the individuals but two results– about the Shopian samples came very late and were not available when the routine bulletin came from the government.”

Reports from Shopian said the two were part of an Umrah group that was quarantined in a PHC. It was a group of 11 suspects. Of them, one tested positive earlier. The rest of them completed the mandatory quarantine of 14 days and were sent home. It was at home that the two developed symptoms and were shifted to hospital. The diagnosis of their samples was available on Saturday.

They belong to the same group that travelled with the batch from which Kashmir got its first Covid-19 positive case. The lady from Khayam in Srinagar has now fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital early this week.
