Police on Tuesday said it seized 26 vehicles in south Kashmir’s  Awantipora district for defying lockdown orders.

A statement said the acting tough against the violators of government prohibitory orders, Awantipora Police have seized 26 vehicles for defying the restriction orders imposed by the Government.

“In the jurisdiction of PS Awantipora, Police have seized 13 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate u/s 144 CrPC. In the jurisdiction of PS Pampore, Police have seized 10 vehicles for the violation of the government prohibitory orders,” it said.

“While in the jurisdictions of PS Khrew, Police have seized 03 vehicles for violating the government prohibitory orders,” it added.

“Awantipora Police have requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” said the statement.
