SRINAGAR: As many as 47 samples that were diagnosed for Covid-19 at the SKIMS laboratory have turned positive,  officials said.

At SKIMS Viral Research and Diagnostic Lab (VRDL), a record number of 3500 samples were tested in last 24 hours. The tests yielded 39 positives, Dr Farooq Jan, medical superintendent SKIMS said. Out of these, Dr Jan said, 36 were samples of travellers who had returned to Kashmir in the past few days.

Dr Farooq Jan, medical superintendent SKIMS said that 47 persons have been tested positive for COVID19 at SKIMS Viral Research and Diagnostic Lab (VRDL).

“Of the 47 new cases, 25 are from Kulgam, 20 from Jammu, one each from Shopian and Baramulla districts,” he said. “We are in the process of getting the details of the individuals.

He said 5500 samples had been tested at the lab in 24 hours.

As of now, J&K has reported 1616 cases, out of which  821 are Active Positive, 684 have recovered and 21 have died.
