Jammu and Kashmir Police said it arrested 93 persons for defying government orders in north Kashmir’s Handwara and  seized10 vehicles.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “acting against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Handwara Police in a series of action have arrested 93 persons and also seized 10 vehicles.”

“In the Jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara, Police have arrested 47 persons and seized one vehicle for defying Govt orders issued under u/s 144 CrPC. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation into the cases have been initiated,” said the spokesman.

“In the jurisdiction of police Station Qalamabad, Police have arrested 09 persons for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, case FIR No. 36/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation into the matter has been initiated,” he said.

” In the jurisdiction of Police Station Vilgam, Police have arrested 21 persons and seized 05 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated,” he added.

” In the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund, Police have arrested 16 persons and seized 04 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated,” said police spokesman in a statement.

“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly,” said the spokesman.
