The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday directed the transport authorities to undertake sanitisation of the public transport and suspend driving license tests as part of its measures to fight coronavirus outbreak in the Union Territory.

“All RTOs/ARTOs shall ensure that the public transport operating in their territorial jurisdictions shall be sanitised with the prescribed disinfectants at regular intervals, as prescribed by the Union Health Ministry. They shall also ensure necessary briefings and sensitization of the drivers/conductors,” reads an order issued by Pradeep Kumar, Transport Commissioner, J&K.

“All RTOs/ARTOs shall ensure that no trial test/learning test of the driving licenses shall be conducted till March 31,” the order reads.

All RTOs and ARTOs have been also asked to notify a help Line No: Whatsapp No. for the general public to address urgent issues of public importance regarding transport.
