SRINAGAR: Authorities have decided to house the medical staff in six designated hostels in Srinagar so that they stay away from their families. This will help healthcare workers manage their duties well.
The hotels that have been designated for the medical staff in Srinagar are Grand Tulip in ZHyderpora, Heritage in Peerbagh on the airport road, Grand Mumtaz in Jehangir Chowk, Valley View in Gool Market Karan Nagar, Heemal at the Boulevard and Ansa Complex in Soura.
An order to this regard was issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary. The order has actually taken over the premises in wake of the powers vested under him under the law.
The staff of all the Covid-19 designated hospitals will stay in these hotels.
The Executive Magistrates have been asked to take over the premises as per the SOP in the disaster act.
In a quick follow-up to the order, the Principal Government Medical College has directed the heads of the departments of Medicine, ENT, Microbiology and the Anaesthesiology and Critical care to accommodate their staff in these hotels. They have been asked to draft the list and send it to Social and Preventive Medicine, the head of which is the Nodal Officer.
The demand for accommodating the Covid-19 staffers in separate accommodations was raised by the Doctors Association of Kashmir, Dr Suhail Naik.
