Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Friday constituted a district-level coordination cell for effective coordination with local NGOs interested in providing their support and services in the ongoing campaign against the spread of Corona Virus Disease.

Mehraj-ud-Din Wani, Nodal Officer with DC Bandipora will head the Cell with Sajad Ahmad Rather and Altaf Ahmad Mir as its members. The cell will coordinate and rope in the support and services of the interested NG0s, as per their specializations/strengths, and shall further deploy and assign them areas as per requirement.

DC Bandipora said the cell was formed after many individuals, NGOs and concerned organizations expressed willingness to assist the district administration in various fields to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DC Bandipora also constituted a team for receiving and distributing Food kits and other ration to stranded outside labours and destitute.

Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari Special Officer SDM Sumbal shall supervise the relief operations in Sumbal Subdivision with Dr Iftikar, Nodal Officer ISM, Firdous Ahmad, Tehsildar Sumbal, Abdul Ahad Raina Tehsildar Hajin, Bashir Ahmad Sofi  TSO and Mohammad Saleem Bhat TSO, as its members.

At Bandipora Mehraj-ud-Din Wani shall supervise the overall operations while Tehsildar Rouf Iqbal, Naveed Hussain Bhat, Abrar Anayat, Mir Tajamul and Mir Hidaytullah will assist Wani in the operations.

According to the order, the teams shall submit a daily report to Assistant Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs regarding the details of receiving and distributing food and ration kits.

DC Bandipora said the district administration has so far distributed about 1500 food packets containing rice, oil, pulses, spices and other essentials among migrant labours, destitute and poor people of the district.

He said many NGOs and individuals have handed over food packets to the district administration of further distribution to the needy people. He said the better coordination by cell will yield better results on the ground and will avoid duplicity in the distribution of relief.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora said in view of lockdown in the district, there are numerous people who need help and in this regard, General Manager DIC Bandipora is monitoring the supply of essential services to the needy and Mir Tajamul has been exclusively nominated as nodal officer for providing food and other essentials to the Non-local labours presently in the district.
