District administration Bandipora Sunday distributed food packets containing rice, oil, pulses, spices and other essentials among migrant labours, destitute and poor people of the district.

Coronavirus: District admin distributes food kits among needy, migrant labours and destitute

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said in view of lockdown in the district, there are numerous people who need help. He said the officers of the district administration along with the volunteers started making food kits from Saturday evening.

He said about 600 kits were prepared till late evening and were later distributed during night among the needy while taking all the health precautions. He said the food packets were dropped at the doorsteps of every household and social distance was maintained everywhere.

The food packets were personally distributed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir and Tehsildar Bandipora Rouf Iqbal during Saturday night among migrant labours, destitute and poor people so they may not face any difficulty. He said that all requisite arrangements have been put in place across the District and people need not to panic.

On Monday the administration continued the distribution and the teams distributed free food packets in Sumbal, Ajas and Bandipora areas as well.

Mirza said the admin has already started online shopping for people wherein they can call on given numbers at getting eatables at their doorstep. With regard to sanitation, Deputy Commissioner said that intensive sanitation cum fumigation drives are being carried out throughout the district by Municipalities to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.
