SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole Wednesday said that restrictions will continue which are already in place in the valley because of the surge in the number of coronavirus cases.

“We are currently in a surge. Daily more than 100 cases are coming regularly. The restrictions will continue which are already in place,” he told news gathering agency KINS.

Pole’s announcement came after several states announced relaxations in lockdown rules along the guidelines released by the Centre last week.

“We have brought back all our people stranded in other states and aboard. We need to be cautious,” he said.

Experts have maintained that COVID19 lockdown exit plan must be comprehensive and effective in an effort to avoid the spread of the virus.

“Currently we are implementing the same norms which are in implementation for last week,” the divisional commissioner said.

Till Tuesday evening, new positive cases of novel Coronavirus were reported in J&K. Forty from Jammu and 77 from Kashmir, taking the number of COVID19 positive cases in UT to 2718.

An official said that 185119 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance. It includes 43635 persons in home and administrative quarantine.

Forty-three persons are in hospital quarantine, 1732 in hospital isolation and 50220 under home surveillance, an official informed.
