The 65-year old man, the third person in Kashmir who died due to coronavirus on Tuesday was buried as per the guidelines set by the authorities at his native village in Gund-Jehangeer village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

An official said that only a few people from the family were allowed to participate in the funeral after wearing protective gear at his native village Gund-Jehangeer at Hajin.

“His cask was carried in by men dressed in protective gear, while the relatives of the deceased wore masks,” he said.

“The patient had come with fever, breathlessness and cough and was immediately admitted,” Dr M SAlim Khan, the spokesman for the GMC’s Allied Hospitals said. “He died late at around 10 pm.”

Dr Khan said he was suspected to be Covid-19 patients and his samples were quickly collected and sent for processing. “Since we knew that he was suspected, we kept his body separate for the night. This morning, we got the results and he was Covid-19 positive.”

Doctors said the deceased lacked any travel history outside his village.
