Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said it arrested three shopkeepers for defying government lockdown orders in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts of central Kashmir.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Police have arrested 3 shopkeepers for defying restriction orders imposed by government in Srinagar and Ganderbal.”

“In Srinagar, Police have arrested 02 shopkeepers for defying government orders in Soura. They have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Gani resident of Kawajapora and Mansoor Ahmad Ganie resident of Nowshara,” said the spokesman.

“Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 31/2020 and 32/2020 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Soura and further investigation into the cases have been initiated,” he said.

“In the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheer Bhawani, Police have arrested a shopkeeper for violating the Govt prohibitory orders issued under u/s 144 CrPC. He has been identified as Ghulam Qadir Sheikh resident of Sheikh Mohalla,” he added.

“Accordingly, case FIR No.11/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kheer Bhawani and further investigation has been initiated,” he further added.

“Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly,” said spokesman in a statement.
