Counting@Islamabad: Amid Protest, Mehbooba Sweeps Third Round By 5894 Votes

Ms Mehbooba Mufti in Islamabad on June 11, 2016

The ruling party candidate and incumbent chief minister of J&K, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has taken a sizeable lead in Islamabad bypolls. By the end of third round, she was leading the polls by 5894 votes.

She was followed by Congress’ Hilal Shah with 1891 votes and NC’s Iftikhar Misgar by 701 votes.

Total 9294 votes were counted by the end of third round.

Meanwhile other candidates except Taijendra Singh and PDP have walked out of counting hall along with their polling agents.

The candidates including, NC’s Misgar are holding protest in the ground of Degree College Khanabal.

“If PDP-BJP had planned it earlier then why did they held elections,” said Iftikhar Misgar while alleging that seals of EVMs have been found broken. “Our trust on the Indian democracy will not remain if justice is not done with us here.”
