SRINAGAR: Udhampur Police on Saturday achieved a major success by recovering 7 Kilograms of Contraband Heroin at Jakhani (NHW) under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur on 2nd September 2022,

Police team of Police Station Udhampur was conducting routine vehicle checking at Jakhani NHW and an Innova car  bearing registration No. PB02CE-8131 was made to stop which was coming from Kashmir valley towards Udhampur. During checking of said Innova, Police recovered 07 packets (1kg each) of Heroin valuing approximately Rs 40 crore in international market and arrested two interstate narco smugglers (Couple) who were smuggling the contraband in the said Car.

The arrested persons were identified as Lovepreet Singh son of Karnail Singh of Madan Lal Dheengra Colony, Amritsar Punjab and his wife Mandeep Kour W/O Lovepreet Singh R/O Madan Lal Dheengra Colony, Amritsar Punjab. In this connection,  A case  FIR No.  373 /2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case has been taken up. Preliminary enquiry has revealed that these smugglers have received this consignment from some unknown persons in Srinagar and were on the way to deliver it in Punjab.

Udhampur Police  is working on establishing forward and backward links, so that all those involved in this illegal trade could be booked under law.
