The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Tuesday quashed the 2nd detention order of separatist Muslim League leader Assadullah Parrey under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).

Parrey, a close aide of Masrat Aalam and Muslim League District President for Bandipora District was arrested in August 2015 for allegedly waving Pakistani flags and other offences relating to fomenting trouble and inciting youth for violence. He was booked under PSA and was shifted to Udhampur Jail.

A single bench of Justice Muhammad Yaqub Mir quashed the PSA order of the state government under which Parrey has been detained.

Justice Mir quashed the PSA order after listening to the arguments of the counsel of detained leader Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak and Public Prosecutor Sajad Ahmed Mir.

Advocate Tak informed the court that Parrey has been booked under draconian PSA for the sixth time and last time he was re-arrested after the court quashed his detention order.
