Terming his offense as not only an assault on the victim but also an attack on the respect and honor of victim’s family, the district and session court Shopian on Friday  rejected the bail application of a rape accused, Javaid Ahmad Rather S/o  Abdul Hameed Rather

Sources told local news agency  KNS, district and session court judge Raja Sujaat Ali after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and the defense counsel on bail application of Javaid, rejected the application.

The court held that accused has kidnapped the victim on gun point with the help of his three other accomplices and committed rape. Court observed that if the accused is granted bail he would go out and will threat prosecution witness.

Raja Sujaat Ali while rejecting the bail application held that offense of rape not only has adverse affect on victim but adversely affects the family and its honor in society.

Pertinently,  the residents of Kanjimulla village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district had held protest demonstrations after a girl was allegedly gang raped by one of her neighbors after kidnapping her when she was coming out of the washroom. Victim was later found in an unconscious state with torn clothes.
