A local court in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district has sentenced three months of imprisonment to a 19-year-old girl for leveling false rape charges against a man.

According to reports, Additional Sessions Judge Masarat Shaheen declared the sentence after the girl retracted charges of rape and abduction against Tajamul Nisar, during a trial in the fast track court.

The girl had in March filed an FIR at Achabal police station against Tajammul Nisar, accusing him of abduction, rape, and criminal intimidation. Soon after the case was filled, Tajamul was arrested, and later bailed out. However, when the case was sent to the fast track court for trial, the girl retracted the statement prompting the prosecution to move an application under section 479A against the accuser. By looking at all the evidence and proofs the court took a Suo Motu notice under Section 479 B and awarded the girls three months punishment.

“It is not child’s play to come to court and implicate anyone falsely… One cannot play a trick to the court or judicial system or falsely implicate anyone for any ulterior motives,” DNA quoted Syed Suhail Haqanni, additional public prosecutor as saying.
