SRINAGAR: With no let-up in the rising number of Covid-19 cases, Ladakh today recorded at least 38 new cases of coronavirus taking the number of active cases to 594 in the region.

According to the Health Department of Ladakh, 38 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Ladakh — 11 from Leh and 27 from Kargil.

“With this, the number of Covid-19 active cases in Ladakh has gone up to 594 —115 in Leh district and 479 in Kargil district,” a Health Department official said.

The official said six corona patients from Leh district and another from Kargil district were discharged from Covid hospitals.

“Till date 66 (36 per cent) patients in Leh district and 26 (5 per cent) in Kargil district were cured and discharged from Covid hospitals,” the official said, adding that the condition of all 594 active cases of Covid-19 in Ladakh was stable.

Meanwhile, the Ladakh Education Department has decided to start online classes for students through social media, radio and TV.

According to the Directorate of School Education, the department would provide online classes through radio and TV, besides webinar. “Further a mobile application and YouTube channel have been launched for academic activities for students. The students can attend the tally lessons of their respective subjects for Class X to XII on DD Kashir and radio (AIR Leh and Kargil) as per the schedule being circulated in advance on a regular basis through social media, groups, Information Department and electronic media,” the department said.
