SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen  on Monday appealed the people of the district to come forward for testing keeping in view the spread of COVID-19 virus

He said people need not to panic, but they should strictly follow the advisories issued by the government and further it has been observed that during testing at various places, our teams are being threatened by some people and it is being said that COVID-19 is not too dangerous.

The DC said that we should not take the virus lightly as there are 200 active positive cases in the district so far, but we should not lose hope either as more than 170 cases have also recovered till date.

He appealed to the masses for their full cooperation to the district administration and added that the administration is always on the forefront to provide better health care facilities to the affected patients so that they recover at an earliest.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner also took stock of arrangements put in place for COVID-19 positive patients at red zone Kachdoora, Dangam area of district Shopian.

On the occasion, the DC directed the health functionaries to work with added zeal and dedication and provide every possible help to the people, especially positive cases.

He interacted with the locals and gave patient hearing to their issues, assuring them that the district administration is fully geared to provide healthcare facilities to the people.

He stressed them to adhere to the advisories issued by the health department from time to time to avoid further transmission of the virus.

A team of concerned citizens and police officers were accompanying DC during the visit.
