A 55-year-old man from Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar on Wednesday became 25th victim of the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

Dr Salim Khan , nodal officer COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar said a 55 year old male, smoker, resident of Fateh Kadal, Srinagar was shifted to CD Hospital Srinagar from SICU SMHS on May 18, 2020 as operated case of Exploratory laprotomy with Appendicectomy after testing COVID Positive.

He said that the patient was kept intubated in SICU SMHS Hospital and then extubated, kept on NIV and then was shifted to CD Hospital.

“At CD Hospital, patient was improving and hemodynamically stable,” Dr Khan said.

He said that the patient was maintaining saturation without oxygen.

“Today on May 27, 2020 at 4 pm patient developed sudden cardiac arrest and was immediately intubated, coupled to ventilator and resuscitated, Dr Khan said.

“Patient developed another cardiac arrest but after that he could not be revived,” said Dr Salim Khan.

With this fatality, 25 persons have so far died due to the disease in Jammu and Kashmir—21 of them in Kashmir and four in Jammu division.
