SRINAGAR: With every passing day, the Covid19 situation is getting better. In the last 24 hours, 16 deaths were reported as the new infections fell to 977 across the 20 districts across Jammu and Kashmir. This is one of the lowest number of infection in recent days.

Kashmir lost nine citizens and Jammu seven in the last 24 hours.

The trend of infected people outnumbering the fully recovered people continues. In the last 24 hours, as many as 4178 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 23514. The recoveries included 1178 cases in Jammu and 3000 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 4090 people including 2102 in Kashmir and 1988 in Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, three deaths took place in Jammu city and only one in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost four citizens in Baramulla, two citizens in Anantnag, and one each in Budgam and Kulgam.

Apart from seven three deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost two citizens in Kishtwar and one each in Ramban and Udhampur.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 977 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 161 and Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 100 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 689 cases against 288 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 44 from Baramulla, 103 from Budgam, 95 from Pulwama, 107 from Kupwara, 66 from Anantnag, 35 from Bandipora, 42 from Ganderbal, 28 from Kulgam, and 8 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 34, Rajouri 29, Doda 36, Kathua 7, Samba 18, Kishtwar 17, Poonch 12, Ramban 22, and Reasi 13.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 23524 active cases, which includes 14801 in Kashmir 8723 in Jammu.
