SRINAGAR: With the lockdown in force for the 30th day, the fast mutating Covid19 virus is exhibiting low infection numbers as the morbidity is gradually going down. But officials say it is early to push the unlock button.

In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 37 people as fresh 2769 cases were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.

Kashmir lost 13 citizens and Jammu 24 in the last 24 hours. Jammu city’s Covid19 casualties reached 1013.

But what is rarely being seen is that more people return home from hospitals fully recovered than the new tally of infections. In the last 24 hours, as many as 4352 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 42272. The recoveries included 1760 cases in Jammu and 2592 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3739 people including 1931 in Kashmir and 1808 in Jammu.

As many as 10 deaths took place in Jammu city and four in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said. The overall death toll of Jammu city is now 1013, which is higher if compared to Srinagar city’s 755 deaths in the Covid19, so far.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost four citizens each in Kulgam, two in Budgam, and one each in Baramulla, Anantnag and Bandipore.

Apart from ten deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost six citizens in Rajouri, four in Kathua, two in Samba, and one each in Poonch and Ramban.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 2769 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 377. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 384 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 1805 cases against 964 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 260 from Baramulla, 195 from Budgam, 196 from Pulwama, 217 from Kupwara, 205 from Anantnag, 78 from Bandipora, 96 from Ganderbal, 146 from Kulgam, and 35 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 63, Rajouri 95, Doda 88, Kathua 50, Samba 35, Kishtwar 22, Poonch 47, Ramban 78, and Reasi 102.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 42272 active cases, which includes 25368 in Kashmir 16904 in Jammu.
