SRINAGAR: In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 46 people as fresh 2253 were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.

Kashmir lost 16 citizens and Jammu 30 in the last 24 hours. Jammu city’s Covid19 casualties reached 1043, the highest in the 20 districts.

But what is rarely being seen is that more people return home from hospitals fully recovered than the new tally of infections. In the last 24 hours, as many as 4334 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 39255. The recoveries included 1898 cases in Jammu and 2436 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3841 including 1973 in Kashmir and 1868 in Jammu.

As many as 17 deaths took place in Jammu city and four in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said. The overall death toll of Jammu city is now 1868, which is higher if compared to Srinagar city’s 764 deaths in the Covid19, so far.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens each in Barmulla, Pulwama, and Bandipore, and one each in Budgam, Kupwara, and Ganderbal.

Apart from 17 deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost three citizens each in Rajouri and Samba, two each in Udhampur, Kathua, and Kishtwar and one in Doda.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 2253 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 353. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 343 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 1459 cases against 337 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 162 from Baramulla, 169 from Budgam, 142 from Pulwama, 203 from Kupwara, 183 from Anantnag, 69 from Bandipora, 52 from Ganderbal, 91 from Kulgam, and 34 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 60, Rajouri 60, Doda 54, Kathua 47, Samba 23, Kishtwar 32, Poonch 70, Ramban 66, and Reasi 39.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 39225 active cases, which includes 24247 in Kashmir 15008 in Jammu.
