Srinagar

While strongly condemning the civilian killings in various parts of South Kashmir over the recent days, State Secretary CPI (M) and Ghulam Nabi Malik, today said that killings of civilians can never be the solution to any problem and urged all the parties involved in the conflict to devise a mechanism to stop such killings.

A civilian Mohammad Iqbal Kawa was killed by suspected militants at Kelam, Kulgam on Sunday evening while another civilian Aijaz Ahmad Bhat died in army’s firing in Nowpora Akhran, Kulgam on Monday.

Earlier two civilians were killed in Security Forces’ firing in Pulwama and Anantnag on June 15 and 16 respectively. We are now short of words and it is not enough to condemn the civilian killings. How long will the civilian killings continue in Kashmir? Unarmed civilians getting killed is an alarming situation and government must take steps to be to stop it immediately.

Mere condemnation every time on such incidents isn’t enough neither ordering a probe is a solution to the problem.
