A massive protest demonstration was Tuesday held in Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) against the “brutal” killing of an engineering student, Danish Farooq of Ratnipora, a student of IUST, who was playing cricket in the local playground of Lelhar Kakapora on 13th February and was killed by the “security” forces.

The protesting students included the classmates of the deceased.

The classmates of Danish dedicated poems to him: “Oh Brother Come Here For a While, Your Sister is Waiting For Your Smile; I Can See You My Brother Bleeding, So Pain to See Her Mother Pleading.”

Chanting pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans, the protestors demanded harshest punishment to the culprits.

Protesters also tried to march towards the Srinagar-Jammu highway but were interrupted by the local security of the campus.

DanishSpeaking to Kashmir Life one the classmates of Danish said, “Killing innocent people is simply brutal. Police and armed forces fire indiscriminately at the protesters. There should be a special committee to look into these matters.

Every time an innocent youth is being killed and no one utters a word that he was innocent instead of a silly reason is given like he was either a stone-pelter or was chanting pro-freedom slogans,” said a student.
