Crime Branch Books 14, Including 5 Cops, in Six Fraud Cases in Jammu Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered six separate cases against 14 people, including five serving police officials, on charges of criminal breach of trust and fraud.

According to officials, an FIR has been lodged against the assistant in-charge (CPPP Jammu), Shalinder Dogra, head constable Mohan Singh, and followers Vijay Kumar and Sohan Lal on a communication from police headquarters. Another case was filed against Vijay Khokher, proprietor of Mala Enterprises Auction Group and a police follower, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 34.25 lakh deposited by a complainant from Bishnah.

In another fraud, Raj Kumar Mehra of Channi Himmat was duped of Rs 48.80 lakh by a group posing as a UK national and her associates from different states. Property dealer Dharamvir Sharma of Jammu has also been booked for cheating two sisters of Rs 24 lakh. Separate cases involve Rs 20 lakh taken on the promise of a work visa and Rs 30 lakh fraudulently collected for plots in Jammu.

SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that investigations are underway in all six cases.
