SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a charge sheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against four accused in connection with an alleged job fraud racket that purportedly duped job seekers by promising employment in the Airports Authority of India.
The charge sheet has been filed in FIR No. 36/2018, registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) read with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.
The accused have been identified as Mohit Sharma alias Bhardwaj, a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Mukesh Kumar, Mehmood Khan, and Ram Lakhan, all residents of Delhi.
According to the Crime Branch, the case stems from complaints received from several districts of the Kashmir Valley alleging that the accused deceived unemployed youth and collected lakhs of rupees from them on the false promise of securing jobs in the Airports Authority of India.
Following a detailed investigation, the Crime Branch said the allegations were substantiated, following which the charge sheet was presented before the competent court for judicial proceedings.
The Crime Branch has urged the public to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and to report any suspicious activities to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Kashmir. Victims have also been advised to submit complaints through the official email address of the EOW.
