SRINAGAR: In a significant achievement, the Crime Branch, Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Jammu successfully recovered a substantial amount of misappropriated funds totalling Rs 1.10 crore from a former employee of Jamkash Vehicleads Pvt Ltd.

SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh deputed a team of officers of Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu to Indore and Delhi and after all out efforts during in-depth investigation, team succeeded in recovering rupees one crore ten lacs embezzled funds, a statement said.

Following extensive investigation efforts, the accused, Sheraz Mir, who was then working as an accountant of Jamkash Vehicleades, was arrested after he committed criminal breach of trust and cheating by transferring a substantial amount of Rs 1.32 crore into his own bank accounts from the funds of the company.

“The case, initially registered under FIR No. 118/2022, pertained to offences under sections 420, 406, 408, and 109 of the IPC at the Police Station Channi Himmat in Jammu. The complaint, lodged by the Executive Director of Jamkash Vehicleads Pvt. Ltd., accused Sheraz Mir of Shant Nagar Janipur Jammu, who, while employed as an accountant, allegedly engaged in criminal breach of trust and cheating. The accused purportedly transferred a substantial sum of Rs 1.32 crore into his personal bank accounts from the company’s funds and subsequently used the amount for online betting. Following his arrest, around Rs 22 lakh of the misappropriated amount was recovered, and a preliminary charge sheet was filed against him by the Jammu Police,” the statement reads.

The case was later transferred to the Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu by the PHQ JK for a comprehensive investigation. Recently, the investigation gained momentum, leading the Crime Branch team to analyze the suspected bank accounts of the accused. “Subsequently, conducting raids in Indore and Delhi, the team successfully recovered the entire remaining embezzled amount of Rs 1,10,00,000.00, marking a significant breakthrough in the case,” it reads.

With this substantial recovery by the Crime Branch Jammu, the entire misappropriated amount of Jamkash Vehicleads Pvt Ltd has been retrieved, and further investigations are ongoing.
