Neelam Langeh (30) the first time lawmaker from BJP who represents Ramban constituency of the Jammu threw up a surprise after appearing at a local stage wearing Rhine-stone studded lehnga and putting on a tacky make-up.

He is believed to be a regular performer of Ram Leela play and surprisingly enacts role of the Hindu Goddess Sita.

The play, organised by Ram Leela Club at Maitra ground in Ramban is believed to be a routine crowd-puller with thousands of people turning up to watch the lawmaker dazzling spectators while mimicking Sita.

“For the last seven years I have been playing Goddess Sita in the local Ram Leela. This time it was a bit different since I have become the MLA,” Langeh reportedly told a Mumbai based newspaper. The play was attended by some senior government officials as well.

An uproarious Hindu nationalist at heart, Langeh expresses no remorse at the recent beating of MLA Langate Er Rashid who was heckled by the BJP lawmakers in State assembly for organizing a beef party. “He hurt our sentiments by hosting a beef party,” Langeh is reported to have said. “It was a wrong move which cannot be tolerated.”

Langeh has been an ardent Ram Leela enthusiast from his childhood and often cross-dresses to invariably play the role of Sita. “Whenever I used to watch Ram Leela with my parents, I was motivated to make it to the stage,” he said. “Time came seven years ago when I got the chance to play the role of Goddess Sita. Since then there is no looking back. This time too people pressed me to play the role despite being the lawmaker.”
