The cross-LoC trade was suspended on Tuesday via Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district following “intense shelling by Pakistani army” yesterday which resulted in the killing of a minor girl, a woman and an officer of BSF besides injuries to 20 others, officials said.

Custodian of LoC trade centre, Poonch, Fareed Kohli told GNS that the trade was suspended due to security reasons in wake of the casualties caused by the shelling by Pakistan army yesterday in Krishna Ghati, Kerni, Mankote, Mendhar sectors.

Officials said the deaths and injuries caused after Pakistani army resorted to shelling in several sectors along the LoC including Krishna Ghati, Kerni, Mankote and Mendhar.

5-year old girl, woman and a BSF officer were killed and 14 civilians and five forces personnel were injured in the shelling on Sunday.

As a precautionary measure, the government and private schools located in 0-5 KM range from LoC in Poonch district remained closed.

The trade and travel between the divided families of Jammu and Kashmir and PaK through Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch had begun in 2006. (GNS)
