CRPF Constable Commits Suicide with His Service Rifle in Kishtwar

In a tragic incident, a CRPF personnel posted with 52 Battalion CRPF at Kishtwar Wednesday committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle inside District Police Lines Complex Kishtwar at around 10:15 AM.

The deceased CRPF man was identified as 42 year old Akash Deep, son of Santosh Raj Resident of Jangala Tehsil Gurdaspur Punjab.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, the deceased had returned to duty about two weeks ago after spending holidays with his family.

After hearing about the gun shots, the CRPF and police personnel on duty immediately rushed towards him but found him lying in a pool of blood and immediately shifted him to District Hospital Kishtwar where doctors declared him as brought dead.

Police have registered an FIR and has started investigation.

The reason behind taking this extreme step by the deceased is said to be some family dispute, however, the exact cause could be ascertain only after proper investigation of the case.

After autopsy, the body of the deceased CRPF man has been handed over to the CRPF unit for dispatching his body to his native place for last rites.

Police have also seized the weapon used by the deceased in shooting himself.
