SRINAGAR: A CRPF personnel was injured on Saturday when a massive chinar tree, uprooted by powerful winds, crashed onto a bunker and security gate near the Amar Singh Club in Srinagar.
The impact caused considerable damage to the CRPF installation, injuring one jawan who was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
A dramatic video of the incident has surfaced, showing a man sensing the looming danger and fleeing the spot just moments before the enormous branches came crashing down. His narrow escape was captured on camera, underscoring the sudden and severe nature of the weather event.
The Amar Singh Club premises also suffered extensive damage as the high-speed winds tore through the cluster of centuries-old chinar trees, leaving debris scattered across the area.
Authorities have taken note of the incident and launched clearance operations around the site. Efforts are underway to ensure the safety of personnel and the structural integrity of the area, which witnessed scenes of chaos as winds wreaked havoc in central Srinagar.
