SRINAGAR: The anti-naxal unit Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is likely to be deployed in Kashmir, to combat militancy in the region.

The Indian Express reported that a contingent of Cobra commandos who are trained in jungle warfare are presently getting trained for urban and rural warfare, at a pre-induction training camp, in the outskirts of Srinagar.

The commandos are also being trained to get acclimatized to the weather conditions of Kashmir and to understand the local social and cultural factors while operating on the ground.

They (Cobra commandos) may be deployed in south and north Kashmir. The Cobra commandos would also be taught the basic (Kashmiri) dialect so that they can understand the local language, reported Indian Express.
