CRPF Vacates 25-year Old Bunker from Srinagar

On directions of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Thursday vacated a 25 year-old bunker from Kawdara area of Srinagar city.

MLC Khursheed Alam who was present on the occasion said the government is committed to provide relief to people of the state. “Removing bunkers from residential areas is one such move as promised by the Chief Minister,” he said while interacting with the locals.

He, however, sought active support from locals in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the area, an official statement said this late evening.

Terming removal of the bunker as fulfilment of Chief Minister’s commitment, Alam said more such bunkers will be removed in future if situation remains peaceful. He maintained that the improvement in the situation would help government to focus on welfare and development of the state. Meanwhile local residents appreciated government’s move to remove the bunker from the area.
