The Central University of Kashmir Teachers Association (CUKTA) expressed remorse at the loss of lives in the past week days in Kashmir. The spokesperson of the CUKTA urged all the stakeholders to demonstrate their sincerity by seriously initiating a process of talks and efforts to resolve the political issue of Kashmir and prevent further loss of precious life in the state. The spokesperson condemned all forms of human rights violations in Kashmir.

“It’s unfortunate that the alienation and frustration among our bright youths like Dr Rafi have reached its threshold. Ignoring the fact of well-educated youths of Kashmir taking up the path of violence is dangerous. Peace cannot be had without sincerely addressing the problems that prevent peacebuilding,” the spokesman said.

CUKTA also expressed solidarity with the teachers and students of AMU and JMI.

The spokesperson said that the violence and vandalization with which the teaching and student fraternity was dealt with in AMU was unnecessary and is highly condemnable.
