He made the remarks while inaugurating the “Jammu Kashmir Cultural Festival” in Jammu, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust. The event was also attended by spiritual leader Swami Avdheshanand Giri.

The Lieutenant Governor said Jammu’s traditions reflect a rich cultural legacy, citing Dogri songs, crafts, and artistic expressions as symbols of lived experiences and devotion. He said the festival aims to preserve folk traditions, spiritual foundations, and cultural identity while strengthening social roots.

He highlighted that cultural events, traditional performances, and awareness initiatives—particularly for farmers—serve as important tools for community engagement and heritage promotion.

Addressing broader themes, the Lieutenant Governor said India must strengthen its knowledge economy and promote cultural and philosophical values globally. He noted that India has historically contributed to global knowledge systems and continues to play an important role in promoting peace and harmony.

He urged youth to reconnect with their cultural roots, encourage innovation, and use heritage as a means of social transformation. He also stressed the importance of compassion, unity, and global brotherhood in the current international environment.

The Lieutenant Governor said India is witnessing significant transformation across sectors, with contributions from scientists, engineers, innovators, and industrialists gaining global recognition. He described this phase as a “renaissance” of India’s civilisational strength.

The cultural festival featured exhibitions, folk performances, a Kisan Mela, and a free medical camp. Several individuals were also felicitated for their contributions in various fields.

Among those present were MLAs Sham Lal Sharma and Devyani Rana, Mahant Rohit Shastri, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, and other senior officials.
