Authorities on Thursday imposed curfew in Trehgam while restrictions were placed in rest of the north Kashmir’s Kupwara district to prevent protests against the killing of a youth by army late Wednesday night.

Local sources said that all the roads leading to Trehgam have been sealed with barbed wire coils by government forces and people are not allowed to come out from their homes.

Youth identified as Khalid Gaffar was killed after the Army opened fire in retaliation to stone pelting in Trehgam area of the district.

According to locals Khalid, a shopkeeper was sitting at the shop when the army passing by opened fire late last night after they were pelted with stones by some youth in Trehgam amid a shutdown called by the Joint Resistance Leadership against civilian killings.
