KL Report

SRINAGAR

Authorities have imposed strict restrictions in the north towns of Bandipora, Sumbal, Hajin and Naidkhai, to foil the “Markundal and Kondebal Challo” call given by Hurriyat Conference led by old and ailing, Syed Ali Geelani.

Geelani has called upon people to reach Kondebal and Markundal, to attend the condolence and prayer rallies in favour of Irfan Ganai and Tariq Leherwal, who were allegedly killed by army on Sunday.

The locals told Kashmir Life that police announced curfew in the areas and for the purpose it used its vehicles who visited almost every area announcing the imposition of curfew. However, police spokesman in Srinagar said that “Restrictions not curfew is in place”.

Reports from the district headquarter Bandipora said that hundreds of police and CRPF personnel have been deployed in the town and people are not being allowed to come out of their homes.

“In Naidkhai, we heard the announcement from the loudspeakers that curfew has been imposed in the town so we are indoors,” a local told KL on phone.

Same reports have reached from Hajin and Sumbal as well.

“In Srinagar and elsewhere in the valley, the situation is normal and people are busy in their daily matters,” police spokesman said.
