SRINAGAR: The numbers are surely getting down, thanks to over month-long lockdown. In the last 24 hours, only 24 deaths were reported and the highlight is that Jammu, after a long time, saw the death count getting to a single digit.

In the last 24 hours, Jammu and Kashmir lost 24 people as fresh 1718 fresh cases were detected across 20 districts of the erstwhile state.

Kashmir lost 17 citizens and Jammu seven in the last 24 hours.

The trend of infected people outnumbering the fully recovered people continues. In the last 24 hours, as many as 3391 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 31579. The recoveries included 1327 cases in Jammu and 2064 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3963 people including 2031 in Kashmir and 1932 in Jammu.

In the last 24 hours, only two deaths took place in Jammu city and four in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost five citizens in Anantnag, two citizens each in Kupwara, Bandipore, Kulgam and one each in Baramulla, and Budgam.

Apart from two deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost three citizens in Kathua, and two in Rajouri.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 1718 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 320. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 169 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 1133 cases against 585 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 102 from Baramulla, 137 from Budgam, 158 from Pulwama, 90 from Kupwara, 103 from Anantnag, 62 from Bandipora, 53 from Ganderbal, 81 from Kulgam, and 27 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 57, Rajouri 75, Doda 52, Kathua 25, Samba 41, Kishtwar 33, Poonch 62, Ramban 49, and Reasi 22.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 31579 active cases, which includes 20099 in Kashmir 11480 in Jammu.
