Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) President, Dr GM Mir on Monday showed deep anguish over the lathi charge by police on National Health Mission (NHM) employees which led to injuries to many employees including doctors, paramedics and other staff who were later hospitalized.

Dr Masood Rashid, executive member of DAK said that words fail to express the deceptive treatment, which is being disposed upon NHM employees.

He further said that some of the employees have been working under this scheme for last 10 years with a hope that they will be regularized some day but they must have never thought in their wildest dreams that they will be beaten like some anti-social elements and will land up in hospitals

Dr Mir Mushtaq, spokesperson of DAK, said that govt instead of solving their genuine demands are hell bent on suppressing their voices.

He further said that these employees have used all the non-violent measures during all these years to get their justified demand solved and finally when all the options went to the deaf ears they finally used the last and final option of pen down strike.

He further said that govt instead of solving their genuine demands makes it more complicated day by day.

DAK stressed upon the Director General of police to advise the police officers to show restrain when they are dealing with the esteemed and respectful employees.

DAK further stressed upon Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Health Minister, Bali Bhagat, MoS Health, Asiea Naqash, Commissioner Secretary Dr MK Bhandari to frame a comprehensive policy for these employees so that they can be regularized at the earliest and their dignity is not compromised. “If the atrocities on the protesting employees for their genuine demands are not stopped we will have no option but to join our brethren in the strike.”
