Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) delegation which was led by its President Dr Suhail Naik along with Jammu Kashmir National Health Mission (JKNHM) representatives on Monday met Inspector General of Police (IGP) S P Pani.

The spokesman in a statement said that in a cordial atmosphere, the delegation discussed the case of Dr Ajaz who was apprehended by the police in Islamabad along with some objectionable material when he was returning back to his home in his vehicle during late evening hours on Saturday evening. The said doctor is in police custody since then.

The delegation apprised the IGP about the circumstances which led to the doctor’s arrest and also informed him that the said doctor is an innocent and law-abiding citizen and has never been involved in any unlawful activities, said a spokesman.

The spokesman added that the delegation appealed the IGP to take a sympathetic and humanitarian view in this matter and release the said doctor as soon as possible as the whole medical fraternity is saddened by this episode along with his family members.

The IGP gave a patient hearing and said that he will look into the matter as they have to follow the certain course of law and after ascertaining the facts the said doctor will be released, the spokesman said.
